What is XRP?

XRP is the coin of the XRP Ledger, a blockchain launched in 2012 and built for one job: moving money between parties in seconds, for a fraction of a cent per transaction. Banks and payment companies were the intended users. Today most people buy XRP to hold it or to move value between exchanges cheaply.

All 100 billion XRP were created when the ledger launched. There's no mining and no new supply. A large share is held by Ripple, the company most closely associated with the network, and released from escrow on a published monthly schedule. That's worth knowing, because it means supply arrives on a calendar rather than from a protocol.

The price above is set by supply and demand across exchanges worldwide, 24 hours a day. There's no closing bell, which is why it moves while you read this.

Three things drive most of the movement. Regulatory news: XRP's price has reacted to court decisions and regulatory announcements, particularly in the US, more sharply than most large coins. Adoption headlines: announcements about banks, payment corridors or new products on the ledger tend to move the price for a while, then fade. The wider market: like every crypto asset, XRP rises and falls with interest rates, risk appetite and Bitcoin's direction.

XRP spent years trading well below an earlier peak before recovering, and it has fallen by more than half within a single cycle. Nobody can tell you where it goes from here. What this page can tell you is the price now, the shape of its history, and how to buy it properly if you choose to.

Past performance doesn't predict future prices. Crypto is volatile, and the value of what you hold can go down as well as up.

The live price is at the top of this page, refreshed continuously from global market data. It is the market rate — the exact amount you pay is shown at checkout before you confirm, including any costs.
XRP trades globally, 24 hours a day, with its price set purely by supply and demand. There is no central bank steadying it and no closing bell pausing it. News, regulation and shifts in demand all show up in the price immediately, which makes it more volatile than most traditional assets.
The all-time high, and how far the current price sits below it, are both in the market stats above. They update as the market does.
Yes. You buy by amount of money, not by whole coins, so you can buy a fraction of a XRP.
No. Nobody can reliably predict crypto prices, and anyone claiming otherwise is guessing. What we give you instead is live data, price history, and a clear quote before you commit to anything. Whether and when to buy is your decision.
