What is Dogecoin?

Dogecoin started in 2013 as a joke. Two engineers took the code behind Litecoin, put a Shiba Inu on it and released it as a parody of the coins launching at the time. It outlived most of them. Today Dogecoin is the original memecoin: a working payment network with a large community and a price that moves on attention more than anything else. People buy it to tip, to trade, and to be part of the joke.

The price above is set by supply and demand across exchanges worldwide, 24 hours a day. There's no central bank, no closing bell, and no company behind it.

Three things drive most of the movement. Attention: a viral post, a celebrity mention or a news cycle can move Dogecoin more in an afternoon than fundamentals move it in a year. That attention cuts both ways. Supply: Dogecoin has no maximum supply. Roughly five billion new coins are mined every year, which is why the max supply tile above reads "No max". That steady issuance is part of why the price has never behaved like Bitcoin's. The wider market: when crypto as a whole turns, Dogecoin usually turns with it, and further.

Dogecoin has risen more than a hundredfold in a single run and given most of it back within a year. Nobody knows what the next one looks like. What this page can tell you is the price now, the shape of its history, and how to buy it if you decide to.

The live price is at the top of this page, refreshed continuously from global market data. It is the market rate — the exact amount you pay is shown at checkout before you confirm, including any costs.
Dogecoin trades globally, 24 hours a day, with its price set purely by supply and demand. There is no central bank steadying it and no closing bell pausing it. News, regulation and shifts in demand all show up in the price immediately, which makes it more volatile than most traditional assets.
The all-time high, and how far the current price sits below it, are both in the market stats above. They update as the market does.
Yes. You buy by amount of money, not by whole coins, so you can buy a fraction of a DOGE.
No. Nobody can reliably predict crypto prices, and anyone claiming otherwise is guessing. What we give you instead is live data, price history, and a clear quote before you commit to anything. Whether and when to buy is your decision.
