What is Solana?

Solana is a blockchain launched in 2020 and built for speed. It processes thousands of transactions a second for fees that usually come to a fraction of a cent, which is why it has become a home for trading apps, memecoins, payments and NFTs. SOL is the coin that pays for those transactions and secures the network through staking. People buy it to use the apps, to stake it, and to hold it.

The price above is set by supply and demand across exchanges worldwide, 24 hours a day. No central bank, no closing bell. The number moves while you read.

Three things drive most of the movement. On-chain activity: when Solana's apps are busy, demand for SOL rises with them. Activity on Solana has been spiky, with memecoin waves bringing in bursts of users who don't always stay. Network reliability: Solana has had outages, some lasting hours. Each one has hit the price and then faded as the network recovered. It's a real part of the coin's history and worth knowing. The wider market: SOL has moved further than most large coins in both directions when the broader market turns.

Solana has no fixed maximum supply. New SOL is issued as staking rewards on a schedule that reduces over time, and part of every fee is burned. That's why the max supply tile above reads "No max".

Solana lost more than 90% of its value in one downturn and later set new highs. Nobody can tell you where it goes from here. What we can tell you is what it costs right now, how it got here, and how to buy it properly if you decide to.

The live price is at the top of this page, refreshed continuously from global market data. It is the market rate — the exact amount you pay is shown at checkout before you confirm, including any costs.
Solana trades globally, 24 hours a day, with its price set purely by supply and demand. There is no central bank steadying it and no closing bell pausing it. News, regulation and shifts in demand all show up in the price immediately, which makes it more volatile than most traditional assets.
The all-time high, and how far the current price sits below it, are both in the market stats above. They update as the market does.
Yes. You buy by amount of money, not by whole coins, so you can buy a fraction of a SOL.
No. Nobody can reliably predict crypto prices, and anyone claiming otherwise is guessing. What we give you instead is live data, price history, and a clear quote before you commit to anything. Whether and when to buy is your decision.
