What is Cardano?

Cardano is a blockchain launched in 2017 that runs on proof of stake and builds slowly on purpose. Its development is research-led: changes are written up, reviewed and rolled out in phases rather than shipped fast. ADA is its coin. It pays for transactions, secures the network through staking, and gives holders a vote on how the project's treasury is spent. People buy ADA to stake it, to use apps on the network, and to hold it.

The price above is set by supply and demand across exchanges worldwide, trading 24 hours a day. No central bank, no closing bell, so the number keeps moving.

Three things drive most of the movement. Development milestones: Cardano's roadmap is public and its upgrades are named. Big ones have moved the price in the run-up and often faded after launch. Staking: a large share of all ADA is staked, and staking doesn't require locking coins, so that supply can return to the market quickly when sentiment shifts. The wider market: Cardano follows Bitcoin's direction like most large coins, usually with wider swings.

Cardano's supply is capped at 45 billion ADA. Most of it is already in circulation, and the rest enters as staking rewards over time.

Cardano has fallen more than 90% from a peak and kept operating without interruption throughout. Whether it climbs back is anyone's guess, and nobody honest will tell you otherwise. What this page can tell you is the price today, how it has moved, and how to buy it properly if you decide to.

Questions people actually ask

The live price is at the top of this page, refreshed continuously from global market data. It is the market rate — the exact amount you pay is shown at checkout before you confirm, including any costs.
Cardano trades globally, 24 hours a day, with its price set purely by supply and demand. There is no central bank steadying it and no closing bell pausing it. News, regulation and shifts in demand all show up in the price immediately, which makes it more volatile than most traditional assets.
The all-time high, and how far the current price sits below it, are both in the market stats above. They update as the market does.
Yes. You buy by amount of money, not by whole coins, so you can buy a fraction of a ADA.
No. Nobody can reliably predict crypto prices, and anyone claiming otherwise is guessing. What we give you instead is live data, price history, and a clear quote before you commit to anything. Whether and when to buy is your decision.
