However, uncontrollable inflation, increasing interest rates, and a strong US dollar have plagued stocks.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>According to Kaiko\u2019s Director of Research, Clara Medalie, \u201cBTC volatility has been falling since early July. On the other hand, stocks have seen volatility increases due to a range of factors including high-interest rates, an appreciating dollar, persistent inflation, the energy crisis, and war.\u201d<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The Federal Reserve has implemented three consecutive 0.75% interest rate hikes in 2022 to combat the rising inflation. However, many market participants believe the peak of interest rate hikes has not yet been seen. Investors look to November 12th when the next interest rate hike will be decided.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Due to the differences in volatility, the correlation between Bitcoin and stocks has also started to diminish. At times throughout the past year, Bitcoin&#8217;s correlation with US stock market indices has been incredibly high, reaching +0.93 during some months.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>However, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/app.intotheblock.com\/insights\/markets\/indices\/western\">IntoTheBlock\u2019s Correlation Matrix<\/a>, Bitcoin\u2019s correlation with the S&amp;P 500 is currently 0.27. The closer to 0, the less correlation there is.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/4DgnCvl2ehq22F4OaZRRbQwm75xag3xdOVZ-wVW9G5eMVTK9da5SWA8_BwPvM1znFHqPrVSe5vq1uKew_pn0fMVdHkbGIdzotepzh8KwjIAYk_yVxkg8V63FywtawieVChIatU6IY1k5HLwM8yB3MqwclJbJUZ8eXTD4eDBCgYD6UUPxH0A-XRL-gA\" alt=\"Xcoins\" \/><\/figure>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p><em>Historical correlation between Bitcoin and a range of different assets.<\/em><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ethereum-records-first-ever-deflationary-month\"><strong>Ethereum records first ever deflationary month<\/strong><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>One of the most debated aspects of the Ethereum Merge was the effect that a <a href=\"https:\/\/xcoins.com\/en\/blog\/proof-of-work-vs-proof-of-stake-the-pros-and-cons\/\">Proof-of-Stake<\/a> network would have on the <a href=\"https:\/\/xcoins.com\/en\/blog\/ethereums-triple-halving-is-fast-approaching\/\">issuance of ETH<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Many were hoping that ETH would become a deflationary asset straight away; leading to a reduction in the supply of ETH with time.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Post the Merge, the dream of deflation dwindled as the supply rate of ETH increased throughout the remainder of September.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>However, with a growing burn rate and continuing low daily issuance, on October 22nd, ETH recorded its first 30 deflationary days in history.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>According to data shared by <a href=\"https:\/\/ultrasound.money\/\">Ultrasound.money<\/a>, since October 8th, the burn rate of ETH has continually surpassed ETH issuance, which means the total circulating supply of ETH has been reducing.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>To be precise, 49,562 ETH have been burnt over the last 30 days.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>As a result, the total supply of ETH appears to have hit a peak in early October and is now days away from falling below the total supply that was available on the day of the Merge.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Approximately 3.318 ETH is burnt per day. According to <a href=\"https:\/\/ultrasound.money\/\">Ultrasound.money<\/a>, Uniswap, OpenSea, and Tether are the service providers that currently burn through the most ETH.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>The burning mechanism for ETH was first introduced by <a href=\"https:\/\/xcoins.com\/en\/blog\/will-the-london-hard-fork-push-up-ethereums-price\/\">Ethereum Protocol Improvement (EIP) 1559<\/a>. EIP 1559 allowed a base fee to be burnt for each transaction, which can change depending on the congestion of the network.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In addition to the burning mechanism, the Merge reduced the daily issuance of ETH by 90%. On-demand liquidity volumes have grown considerably over the company\u2019s 10 years, showing a 9x year-on-year growth.\u00a0<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>Alongside business growth, the company continues to make headway in its court case against the SEC. Last week, Ripple successfully acquired a copy of a speech given by former SEC official, William Hinman.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>In the speech, Hinman claims that Ethereum is not a security, which should help Ripple to prove that XRP should be treated equally. According to Ripple\u2019s counsel, Stuart Alderoty, the speech from Hinman is pivotal in proving that the same rules should apply to XRP.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/s_alderoty\/status\/1583229474681675776\">tweet<\/a> published by the counsel, \u201cOver 18 months and 6 court orders later, we finally have the Hinman docs (internal SEC emails and drafts of his infamous 2018 speech).
